Weird Wagon Ignition Wiring 200 1983

Could anyone help with understanding the power feed to the coil on my 83 245DL? It has the Volvo/Chrysler "mpg" HEI setup. The car quit on the road, no spark. After replacing worn cap, rotor, wires, and coil (new Bosch with shiny "chrome" can, not black anymore) as well as testing distributor sender, control box at right fender, wiring harnesses, still no spark. Testing at the coil no.15 + terminal w/VOM proved I was getting less than 12 volts (3-7 w/ erratic fluctuations). I pulled the wire off terminal 15 and jumped directly to fuse box position 11 (16 amp). The car burst into life. I've driven 250 miles so far with this rigging.

Can I leave things this way? I pulled each and every fuse while testing for 12V at the coil and with ignition switch on, voltage was always present. Fusebox label does not mention ignition, though Bentley Manual shows no 11, the one I tapped, running the circuit. Do I risk harming the ignition switch? What gives?
