I've been searching around and may have found a PV to purchase. The owner has started a restoration, but a relocation has forced him to consider selling. It's a '65 model.
Considering the machine is almost 40 years old & it has a single circuit brake system, I thought it might be wise to inspect & replace all questionable brake components, including the brake lines (rigid & flex). I've read in a few sources that Volvo uses a "Bubble Flare" on their brakes. I'm not familiar with this standard, and was wondering....
1) Were buble flares used on PVs, specifically '65 models?
2) If so, are hand tools & fittings available to fabricate my own?
3) Also, if the wheel cylinders used on some PVs are the same as those used on mid-60s Ramblers (which I'm sure used a standard double flare), what sort of difficulties would be encountered by changing the whole system over to American standard parts?
Thanks in advance for the input. This is a great resource!
