Tranny Help 700

I'm just wondering if anyone has reconditioned or fixed a M47 Tranny before. If so maybe someone can help me a friend has a 88 740 GLE M47 trans. It is stuck in something not sure what tho. Push the clutch to the Floor to shift and can't find any gears simply will not go into 1 not R,1,2,3,4,5. This car has a cable clutch and no the cable is not broken that was my 1st guess. I can however move the shifter to the left and right and it does crossover into the far left for reverse but like i said it will not move up or down into any gears.

Any help at all would be greatly apperciated
