245 Pre-warm up Power Issues 200 1983

On my 245 Turbo when i start it up, it fires over immediately, and idles rather well for having 214K. When i attempt to accelerate it hesitates and jerks, so i can only accelerate very slowly. Once it warms up, (runs for 5 mins or so) it accelerates fine and has plenty of power. I bought a coolant temp sensor, but my repair manuel doesn't show where this would install. It just seemed like that could be the problem. I've also replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air and fuel filters. Any suggestions appreciated.
