number on timing cover ? & what's required to convert a 23E to a 23ET ? 200

i've done some digging through the archives and various sites, but i can't seem to find any info/charts to make sense of the big 3 digit number on the front of my engine. mine's a 978 ?
i also found these details for a euro spec engine:
B23ET - 760T
LH -Jetronic (Bosch)
126kW/173hp at 5700 RPM
96 X 80 mm /4.cyl
2,32 litre
CR 9:1
would it be possible to swap lower compression pistons & an old turbo to my system for a similar boost ?

found a great thread in the archives about changing motor mounts without removing the engine to, something about lawsuits and remembering to use the drainplug as a jacking point ;)
