About a week or so I posted that my heater fan was not getting current. The problem turned out to be the connector in the wiring from the fuse panel to the fan switch. While I was tracing the circuit, the power started to flow to the switch. Took the connector apart, cleaned all the spades, and the female ends, fan worked. Put the dash back together, went for a ride, fan worked for maybe 5 minutes. Took the glove box back out, seperated the connector and used the pointed end of my test light to probe the female socket. Something fell out, it was tiny and shiny and could have been glass or metal, and of course I could not find it. Re-assembled and fan worked. I've been driving around since Saturday afternoon and it is still working so I will probably put the glove box back tonight. (at which point I am sure it will stop working!)
Only unfortunate part of this is that I blew $19 on a new fan which was not needed.
Thanks for the help
