I've got new problem!! 1985 740GLE with B230f with M46 tranny.
As I was driving today and reduced speed, the engine rpm dropped but no engine braking. When I revved up to speed clutch seemed to reengage. After stopping, I had no reverse!
I did seem to have normal forward clutch action. After driving for awhile, the engine braking returned, and with a rumbling that seemed to occur at a certain driveline speed (i.e. in 1st at +3000rpm, in 2nd around 2000rpm, 3rd about 1500rpm) This rumbling felt as though it were in the tranny or toward the back right? It would occur only during deaccellaration. At this time the O.D. disappeared also!
The light would come on but the rpm would be at 4th gear speed.
This did occur without previous warning, although I have had problems with O.D. engaging until after engine warms up, and a leak of trans fluid that I have not been able to isolate.
Is there anyone who might be able to steer me in the right area?
Thanks,
jc
