Throttle Position Sensor 700 1987

Has anyone had a bad Throttle Position Sensor? I have been trying to find the source of an intermittant hesitation problem, and was thinking maybe the TPS has a bad spot. The hesitation occurs on acceleration from stop, usually around the 1000-1500 rpm range? Could it be that at this point on the TPS an incorrect signal is sent to the ECM?

Input is appreciated.
