Mac pherson strut grommet per Haynes 200

From a previous post, Haynes shows a strut grommet on page 10-5, figure 4.7, step 7.

Bentley's says nothing. Is this part for real? I don't remember it being attached to the strut when I recently replaced them, but I didn't look inside the tube either. I'm getting a little clunking and suspect this is the source.
