O2 sensor and other original parts 700 1991

At 189,000 miles, my car still has its original oxygen sensor. How do I know if it needs replacing or not? I know timing belts should be replaced every 70K. Is there a similar timeline for oxygen sensors? Is there anything else I should check at this point in the car's age/mileage? (I'm not keen on unpleasant surprises.) Thanks!
