I cleaned the throttle body without taking it off. Removed the two vacuum hoses from the TB and the large hose that runs to the intercooler. Sprayed and wiped clean throttle body.(Lots of Gunk removed) Replaced vacuum hoses with new ones. Checked the idle stop screw on the "stamped metal plate". The throttle cable has some slack in it...could probable take a little out. I removed the Black plastic knob on the throttle housing (Threaded and looks like a large needle valve) some gas poured out of it. Tried running car with the the 'base idle adjusted all the way in-the way I found it- to all the way out- and idle speed did not change...stayed at 3200 RPM. I have not removed or messed with the throtle position switch. In FAQ 700/900 [Adjustment of Pre-89 TB, TPS and Base Idle:] it states that there a tricky part. A blue connector behind the battery with nothing plugged into it. This I could not find..except there was a connector back there that had corroded ( appears to be green wire cover..whats left of it) they say to ground the blue/white wire in the connector to shut off the idle speed motor so that base idle can be adjusted with the black knob..I did not try that yet. The base idle set screw can be adjusted..so it is easy to increase idle speed but I have yet to find a way to lower the idle speed. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. George
