I've got the overdrive solenoid partially removed. As I was removing the clamp from the pax side of tranny I discovered bare wire rubbing against the transmision. If the wire has grounded here would that cause the overdrive not to work? I'm shy about electrical problems since I've repaired some that did not work correctly. Should I just cover the exposed wire with heat shrink after cutting and splicing or just wrap with electrical tape? The electrical tape probably isn't up to longevity with oil seepage nearby. I'm worried that splicing will cause more problems. I've experienced problems before with crimp type splicers. Also, I've got a used solenoid in case this one is bad. Thanks for the input.
