Rear end clunking solved! 200 1983

My 1983 242 is my first Volvo so I don't entirely blame my mechanic (me) but I finally traced the problem I was having with a loud metallic noise soming from what I thought ( could have swore actually!) was the rear end. I suspected rear bearing, u-joints and trailing arm bushings but all seemed OK. I finally was looking again at the rubber bearing support and noticed that the new one I had installed was pretty wobbly and the bearing rode pretty loose. I recalled reading on Brickboard about a reader having trouble getting the rubber over the bearing so upon reading archives and looking at online catalogues I then found out that there are two sizes of rubber supports. I had saved the old one which was in not bad shape and low and behold the new one was for the larger bearing! When I bought the part at our local aftermarket Import Auto the parts guy just didn't advise me of two sizes so maybe he wasn't aware either. In any case; in the event anyone is changing this part be aware of the fact that there are two sizes to consider. Thanks Brickboard once again and thanks to one and all who gave advise.
