Oh wise ones,
I come to you seeking advice and information about the P1800 coupes.
My research indicates that the most powerful version is the '70-72 1800E, with the fuel-injected 135hp B20E motor. Now, my understanding is that Volvo uses 'E' to designate a high-compression head, and 'F' a low-compression head. So question is, would a U.S. market 1800E have the B20E or the B20F? If 'F', will an 'E' head bolt-up to the block?
What was the first year that Volvo started putting cat. convertors and smog crap on U.S. cars?
What is stock performance like (0-60mph, 1/4 mile, etc.)? Are performance parts readily available on the aftermarket?
Does the 1800E have D-jet or K-jet injection? Is it electronic, or mechanical, and does it require extensive maintenance? Would a carb'd 1800S be more reliable?
What are the usual problem areas/issues?
And finally...what should I expect to spend for a decent, running car in the PNW?
Thanks in advance!!
