Alternator and starter 200 1983

Hi there...

Here are some problems I'm having lately....

Replaced alternator with rebuilt Bosch unit and rerouted new alternator to the firewall. Now noticeable at night is the alternator light faintly glowing. Really brigtens in sync with turn signal. Increased revs may decrease light or increase. Light may increase or decrease at random. Being driving for over a month now and no effect on the battery and starting. Ideas...

Also at same time replaced starter with rebuilt Bosch. Solenoid activates but does not engage starter, doesn't grind flywheel either. Takes 1-2 tries before engages. Previous experience with starters is they bolt up and all is well.

Does anybody make a replacement wiring harness from the firewall forward for the engine wiring, which of course suffers from crumbling insulation?

Vwhicle now has 408,000+ km....
