Radiator recore 140-160

The radiator on my 164 sprang a leak. After removing it, I found that its been patched in about 5 places. The repair shop I took it to says I should have it recored......not just patched again.

Has anyone had experience with recoring. Is it likely to produce a good solid result, or, for a little more money, should I buy a new radiator. If new, any recommendations on brands, types etc. Thanks
