stumble and hesitation at cold temperatures 700 1985

My 85 740 has a hesitation at a specific temperature range. At start up, the car runs fine. Once the car has just began to warm up and the temperature gauge has moved just a bit, I get a terrible stumble and quite a bit of hesitation. Its like the engine is starved of fuel. A few moments later, car runs fine again. As long as it is just slightly warm, car runs fine. This is more noticeable on colder days (under 30 degrees). On warmer days, problem is still there, its just that the car reaches temperature much quicker. Im thinking temperature sensor. However, I am a novice here. I dont even know what exactly all my temp sensors do. I apparantly have three;...the one under the intake, closer to the flame trap is for the computer, i think.....intake side closer to the front of the moter is for my temp gauge....there is another on the exhaust towards the front, im not sure at all what that one is for. Heck, im not even sure this is a temp sensor problem, thats why im posting....HELP!!!
