TRANNY SWAP 700

I'd like to ask your thoughts on the cost of a tranny swap between two cars. The long and short of it is that I have a '90 745Ti, and my friend has a '91 744Ti. Mine has the Aw71, his the M46. We are contemplating a tranny swap and got a quote from a local shop for $1550CAD for the job. This includes both car, obviously, and new rear main seals while they're at it. If you have any comments or advise regarding this affair, I'd appreciate the input. Thanks,
