stabilizer link clunking sound 900 1995

The left and right stabilizer links in my 95-960 wagon keep failing after or
20 or 30K mi. When they fail they make clunking sounds when the vehicle is
at low speeds on bumpy roads. Has anyone figured out how to solve this
problem. These things are expensive to replace.
