How do I disable the Air Box Thermostat and is it O.K. to do so? 200 1988

From previous posts I have learned that the ABT could be causing my stalling problems and also that the ABT is extremely difficult to remove and replace. Some suggest the ABT is useless. Is there a way I can effectively disable it?
