I still have an annoying rattle in the rear of my 244.

it's coming from each side in the rear.

any little bump in the road starts it rattling. when I first got the car in 1999 it didn't do this.

I KINDA sounds like its coming from where the rear seatbelts wind up, up by the rear/uppper corners.

My girlfriend's mom rode back there and said it sounded like it was coming from outside the car.

it's really annoying, but I have yet to track it down. Jacked up the car to check the rear suspension last night, and everything is in check, no blown bushings, and I'm running 5 month old, Boge turbogas.

I can't figure it out.. I've removed all of the contents of the trunk (panels, etc) down to bare metal, and it still rattles.

I'm curious if any of you guys have had this happen or not.

it started out on the driver's side, and then eventually started on the passenger side.

teh rear seatbelts are always fully contracted, and rarely used (only about 3 times/year maybe)

do the rear quarter windows ever come 'loose'?

that's the general area it sounds like to me (as the driver)
