740 16 valve balance shaft bearing replacement 700 1989

My 89 745 GLE 16 valve has a chirping from the front of the engine. It went away for about 200 miles after an oil change with an oil additive, then returned. My mechanic says it is a bearing on the balance shaft. How big a job is this to replace? Anybody ever replaced one? The car is otherwise in good shape and I would like to keep it. Jim
