Air Conditioning Repairs/740 Turbo 700 1989

Shop says a hose is leaking-calls it a "suction hose". Is this the real name for it? While looking into the engine it is very low on the right side. Filled it with freon and it didn't get super cool, says dryer should be replaced also, with O-rings. Should I fix this as is or convert it over at the same time? THanks
