1988/760 Turbo...With a mind of it's own 700 1988

I have a car that has a mind of it's own as it stops running whenever it seems to want to. It happens during all kinds of weather (dry, hot, cold or wet), speed has no bearing on the problem either, neither does terrain for that matter. It runs perfect for weeks then it might stop running 3 times in one day. I've had it into garages but because it only happens on an intermitent basis they find no problem with it. When the engine quits everything else keeps working such as radio, 4 way flashers and all the instrument lights. Everything is fine with the exception of the engine. It restarts with no problem once I've pulled off the road and come to a stop. The one thing I've replaced so far is the coil but that made no difference.
I have very limited resources as I'm living on a pension and I would apreciate any help or suggestions that can be forwarded to me.
Thanking you all now for your time and effort in helping me with my problem.

Oldman, John
