What is the best way of cleaning the inlet manifold and all of its components? What are the do’s and don’ts of this job? Which cleaners should I use?
How does one clean/dismantle the throttle body without disturbing the throttle switch to the point that it has to be re adjusted, or is that a silly question, if cleaning means that the throttle switch would need tweaking anyway? How do you clean the injectors?
The reason is that this engine does not run smoothly. It has a slight hiccup (engine vibration becomes irregular for a brief period) at idle every now and then and the fuel consumption could be better. Also true at 2K revs. Also the pulling power is just not quite there on demand. Spark plugs also have a slight oranging to the nose. I found when cleaning out the PCV hosing and oil & flame trap, a serious amount of crud. It had even run down the hose connecting the throttle body with the Mass Air sensor! I get no fault codes.
I confirmed with the strobe that the computer is doing it’s job timing wise and checked, as I had the strobe out, that all the ht leads where firing irrespective to the hiccup. I do get a slight tappet noise from no3 and plan to reshim it soon.
The engine is a b200 f in a 940 91
Thanks
