This really only applies to 88-9? cars with the tape deck that plugs into the radio (sr7145 and tp7145). Other part numbers may apply, but I didn't say so.
As some history to those who don't know me, I have a death wish. I'm absolutely determined to blow up everything in my car, and yours too if you're not careful. I broke the horizontal, the vertical, and I'm working on the contrast. You have entered the VolvoZone.
I am attempting to cram a standard type PC in the trunk running an operating system started by a finnish fellow. It will be used to store and play advanced media such as CDs, MPEG Audio, Vorbis Ogg, and anything else I can get my mitts on. As current, I have the computer part handled. The part I am needing some assistance with is wedging the interface between the radio and the tape deck. I've already made a makeshift demo wedge that will switch the radio over to tape mode, and play from the analog lines provided. Oh by the by, this interface basically shorts two wires. My GF pressed the play button on the tape player and reacted just shy of exploding.
At this point you're asking why I don't just burn CD's and install a CD player. I could do that, but having a high powered computer affords me SO many more possabilities for destroying my car.
So I'm wondering if anyone has any extended information on the logic lines used for manipulating the radio status by the external tape player. The lines I have access too are as follows:
2. REM (Unknown Logic)
3. PLAY-MODE (Unknown Logic)
5. RHOST (Unknown Logic)
6. MUTE (Unknown Logic)
8. DIMM (Unknown Logic)
Now PLAY-MODE is rather obvious, however the others are a complete mystery to myself. If anyone could give me information, which ones are the radio talking to the tape player, and which ones are the tape player talking to the radio, logic voltages and such, I could be GREATLY appriciative.
