wind noise and big a** mirrors 200 1986

Wind noise sucks.
I have the jumbo (dumbo ears) mirrors hanging off both sides of the car.
I the garage I have a set of power mirrors from an early 80's GLE, they seem to be smaller in size, does anyone have experiance with these? Will they be quieter?
Maybe I should just remove them both and hope for better fuel economey!
