Hi all,
I posted this already but the replys I have got so far don't match up with what the wires in my car are.
Here is the original post:
I am having a bit of trouble installing an aftermarket radio into my 1988 240 volvo, I pulled the original radio out and found a different type of plug to the normal 240 one I am used to. I am having trouble working out which wire is which can anyone help? The harness plug that goes into the back of the radio is 9 pins long (one of which is not used), the colours are (left to right): grey, orange, green, blue, yellow, unused, red, white /w blue stripe, blue /w white stripe. There is also a black wire with a plug (remote power antenna?) and black cable with an o connector that was held with a screw to the case (I am assuming this is the earth?).
So far I have established that: white /w blue stripe (position 8) and blue /w white stripe (position 9) are +/- front left side speaker, blue (in pos 4) is ACC power, I don't believe orange (position 2) or yellow (position 5) are connected to anything at the moment and I think green (position 3) is power antenna.
This is an Australian volvo although I don't think that should make a difference, and I am sure it is the original wiring as it has not been tampered with before.
Thanks for your help,
Steve
