High Idle after wiring harness replacement.. 700 1986

I replaced the deteriorated wiring harness on my '86 744 Gle w/ an '87 740GLE
and everything was fine. The only difference was the temperature sensor hookup.
one spade on the '86 and double round connectors on the '87.I just fitted
a spade connector on the yellow and white wire . There is also an extra plug that by the ignition coil that is not needed for the '86(believe that is the other end of the unused wire coming from the temperature sensor). This is my
biggest DYI however, I need some help. The car started fine and runs good but
idles at 1600 rpm.I've noticed the big hose coming from the flame arrestor
to the intake hose is not fitting right and I'm sure it is leaking. Will this cause my high idle ???I 've double check all my electrical connection and they are fine.I've also sprayed the throttle body and intake hose w/ carb. cleaner
to take off the oil residue and I dried the intake hose right away. The intake hose might have a leak and will be replaced. Can leaky intake hose cause the
high idle situation?? Thanks...
