lost in CR figures & headgasket thickness 120-130

Hi,

I'm trying to make things clear in my mind about which headgasket goes on what.

Here in europe, we can get 2 different types of HG: 2mm & 0.8 mm. The 2 mm is intended for the B18A (single carb). the 0.8 is standard on the B20B/D. European Volvos' specs are as follows: B18 A: 121; B18D: 122S; B18B: 123 GT. I've always thought all the engine have the same head, the HG thickness making the CR difference.
Now, can anyone explain how the 123GT (CR 10:1) can use the same HG as the 122S (CR 9,5:1)? Is there a difference between heads, after all? Or did the 123 GT have a specific HG that is no more marketed?

Thanks for any help!

Séb
