air conditioner compressor 200 1997

arghhh, my air conditioner compressor is apparently seized...it turns grudgingly after melting a belt on the highway today. is there any alternative to replacement? a shot of WD40?? anything??? It's to go into the shop tonight barring another plan. I just saw an eye-popping price of +$400 for a new one, and that's from a discount mail order place. any suggestions most gratefully received. thanks
