91 740 boost question 700 1991

I have just picked up my first volvo, even though Ive worked on them for a while and know how good and reliable they can be. I love the car, but Im looking for more speed. My boss has told me that turning up the boost is easy, it is more a question of fuel, the throttle switch to be exact. Does anyone know if the full side of that switch is used out of the factory or is it something that has to be hooked up by me.
