NEW Brakes....Bitchin!!!! 700

740 gle sedan, 16 valve B234f AW72L

Holy Straight Braking Batman!!! I suffered from the constant shimmy during breaking for about a year, even after I replaced the Strut Rod bushings with a bushing kit from www.ipdusa.com. I disassembled and inspected all the braking/steering and suspension hardware tightness and alignment. The tie rod ends appeared tight at that time. No wobble from the wheels after vigorous shaking. (Which I conclude is a waste of time, you cant tell whats loose unless its really busted). The OEM brake discs did not appear warped, tho previous owner did indciate they had been warped then turned. The surface roughening after turning was still visible on the disc surfaces.

2 each on each line item unless noted:
Total Costs
tie rod ends $ 29.00 (from Autozone)

ATE power Discs, front, 11.25" $ 101.14 (from http://www.importpartsspec.com)
Textar pad set, front, girling $ 35.96
Brembo discs, rear, ATE $ 54.62
Textar pad set, rear, ATE $ 21.61
Brake hose, front, girling $ 17.98
Brake hose, rear, ATE $ 17.30
caliper slide lub, 4 oz tube $ 6.95

Girling boot repair kits $ 30.00 (from NAPA)
Brake Kleen solvent sprays
Silcion spray lub
Liquid Wrench

The boot repair kit from NAPA had to be the biggest scam, 2 each; rubber boots, and 2 each; 11 mm bolts: for $15 per kit.

Man I am in heaven, and this was just after completing the front end. The rear brakes get done later this week.

I always loved the feel of road in this sedan, it just got better with proper no shimmy breaking!!

Now if I could just end the Damn oil leaks on the B234f engine, which I know won't happen :)
