(+) and (-) wires for speakers?? Wiring diagram doesn't say.. 200 1993

Finally got the #$$%@ OEM radio out by bending the tab and losing some more skin..now I've traced the wires for the speakers to the outflow of the amplifier..I'll leave it installed (PITA to remove)and tie into the wires.
Using the Bentley manual's wiring diagrams, I can ID the wires by color,but the Kenwood wires are labled (+) or (-). So, which is which..or does it matter?
I figure I'll use the striped wire as (+) and the solid wire as (-).
Will it work, O Audio Gurus?
