Under-the-hood styling 700

Some of you may laugh some of you may agree but i think that everytime i open up the hood of my car id like it to be easy on the eyes. now my question is do i have to buy colored hoses or can i spray paint them myself. anyone know if this will degrade the rubber hose or perhaps ignite at high temperatures. id like to spray paint some of the larger hoses and top of the block itself. any suggestions would be appreciated...all you hardcore performance guys are probably wanting to kill me but thats aright
