940 A/C 900 1994

The Air Conditioning in my 1994 940 turbo wagon has gone out. for several months the compressor has periodically refused
to come on... when it did come on it worked fine. the other day when I engaged the A/C I smelled burning electrical parts and
since then it is totally dead. It seems like a control problem; one guy told me it is the control board. Is it possible to fix the
board? are there low-cost replacement options?
