Ride hight 700

I have 2 740 sedans, an 85 & an 87

The 85 sits about 2 - 2.5 inches lower than the 87 on like tires & rims.
Struts, shocks & springs check good.

The question:
Is the 85 lower by standard or has it been tinkered with?
I live in the country & REALLY don't need my Bride's car to double as a lawn mower.
