rattling hubcaps 200

my 81 244gl has these chrome disc hubcaps held on by a central spring tab arrangement which grips the hub, leaving the perimeter unsupported and free to rattle against the wheel. Even when theyre on tight, a 1 or 2mm clearance develops with a consequent rattle. Is there a solution more elegant than siliconing them to the wheel?
