Stereo Upgrades for a '91 244DL 200 1991

Howdy fellow Volvo owners. I currently bought a 1991 244ÍL. This is my first Volvo and love it! It is a 1 owner with 130k and all service records. Everything is perfect on and in it except for the radio :) and I want to upgrade it. Since I have never worked on a Volvo before (but am quite capable of doing most maintenance jobs), I have a few questions for ya'll :)

I'm looking at keeping the stock radio and put some nice components in the front or some coax's and 4" coax in the rear doors along with an Alpine CD changer, an amp to run the components and an amp to run the 2-8" subs. My questions:

1. Hooking up the speakers. Should I just let the factory amp run the 4" rear speakers in the door and the 4 channal Alpine amp run the components.....or should I disconnect the factory amp and run all 4 speakers with the Alpine amp? I plan on using the speaker level to RCA input converter in either case.

2. I need the Speaker wire colors as well as color of wires for Remote Turn on lead, Battery, and Power ant.

3. The front speakers are not 4" like what Crutchfield's website specifies. What is the speaker size that was put on this year and model? 5 or 5.25"? and what brands, if any, bolt right up the factory holes.

And any other info that you all might think is helpful.

Thanks,

Cliff
