Running without a thermostat? 200 1984

In a mild climate, is there a major problem running without a thermostat. No thermostat would allow a greater flow of water through the block meaning that the water would pass through the radiator more often keeping the water and the engine cooler?? does that make sense?
the engine would reach normal opperating temp. much slower though right? is that a major problem, bad for my engine??
Cheers,
Glen
