You get what you pay for....(?) 900

I went to get spare drive belts.

I read all this stuff about the 'negligible difference' in cost between Volvo OEM belts and the aftermarket stuff, when the Volvo OEM quality is SO MUCH better.

How much better?

How much MORE expensive?

An alternator belt from my Volvo dealer (1993, 944) lists for $22.19. It says 'made in Germany'.

A Continental brand belt sells for $6.95. I can buy two, have a spare, and have money left over.

Anyone have a bad experience with Conty belts? Anyone have to switch back to OEM because of shortcomings in the aftermarket product?

I am sure the Volvo belt is better, and probably has to meet more stringent test results, even if it comes from the same factory. Twenty-two dollars for a fan belt really shook me up!
