Greetings All,
I went to buy clutch parts for our 83 244T this PM and found out that my source recommends the same kit (SACHS #242-04) for both the NA and the Turbo (215 mm disc and P-Plate). I know that the factory parts have different #s, but am curious as to the actual / physical difference (i.e., Turbo's P-Plate has more clamping force, etc.). I'd like to think my parts source is selling the turbo parts to put in all of the M-46 (non-intercooled) cars--but know that's probably wishful thinking.
FWIW, I'm already planning to resurface the flywheel, plus check the condition of the level and cable. T-O bearing and pilot bearing will both be replaced, as will the raer main seal. Anything else I should look at?
In terms of "bottom-line," I can get the SACHS kit for about $90 locally, while the B21FT kit (available through IPD) is $239. I don't want to be "penny-wise, pound-foolish," but is the difference worth the cost?
Any insight (esp BTDTs) would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
