Air conditioning on 1990 760 Turbo 700 1990

I've got a 760 Turbo with 193,000 miles on it. Lately, when I've had the a/c on for a few minutes, it will start shaking the whole engine compartment. Shortly after the shaking starts, the a/c light on the dash starts flashing.
This morning, even when I didn't run the a/c, the engine styrted to shake untill I slowed down a bit. What's wrong? Is this a problem that can be corrected?
