Hi-
My wifemobile is a 1988 244GL, B230F. Last year it just barely passed the TX emissions test, this time it flunked. CO was too high, 1.36 and needs to be 1.20 or less. The guys said it was running lean.
There was another measurement that was out, but I can't recall what it was. FWIW it was the one of the upper left of the monitor, CO was upper right. The things on the lower left and lower right were in range.
Done so far:
PCV system, replaced everything, oil trap, hoses and all, but for other reasons.
O2 sensor - new Bosch unit.
Air hose - new, old one had small hole.
Throttle body - cleaned.
Have new to put in - ambient engine temp sensor.
I can't see how a bum AMM would have the effect of a random miss.
Under 12 months old:
Plugs (Bosch W7RDS),
Plug wires,
Distributor cap and rotor,
Fuel pressure regulator.
I am unable to do the work right now (health problem) so gathering info will allow me to get right on it when I can.
Question to you: What to do next? Fuel filters? Pumps? FP relay? Check plugs color? Run compression test?
The car starts right up, runs OK, fuel efficiency seems a little low (O/D is kaput), but is has this little random miss, at idle and on up to 2500+ rpm.
Ich ben gestumped.
Thanks,
Bob
