I just bought my first turbo car, an 87 760Ti wagon. It's the four cylinder which brings me to my first question. I thought the "6" in the model number designated a six-cylinder. Imagine my surprise when the guy I bought it from cranked it up and it sounded just like my 88 740. Any ideas on why it's called a 760 instead of a 740? Next question is about the compressor like noise coming from under the hood on the driver's side firewall. After start-up, you hear the "fppbbbbbbt" of an air or vacumn pump. What is the noise? Two more things. Did this care have Nivomats in the rear end. there is some sag there and i was wanting to add some cargo springs to lift her up. Last question. This being my first turbo car I am not too familiar with the feeling of the acceleration. When the turbo kicks in, is the car supposed to rocket ahead or is the feeling more gentle like you just settle deeper into the seat.
Sorry this is so long guys. Any info would help.
Thanks.
