Well, i had decided since my 740 16v needed a new exhaust system, I would want something more along the lines of performance, seeing the prices that ipd charges, realizing that that's about what i paid for the car, I wasn't about to get one of those....  So here's what i did...  I got 2 things, first, a 3" universal tailpipe kit, part number 15902 made by Flowmaster, secondly a 3" center-center Hooker Max Flow muffler (pretty well straight thru design)..  The universal pipe kit was fairly straightforward and would fit most cars, I didn't need one piece from it, but it was listed as "optional" anyways...  Pretty well you just cut-to-fit the pipes, and voila, you have a mandrel bent pipe!   The muffler fits snug in the spot where the original muffler was, has just enough clearance around the sides...  the only thing i had to creatively do was adapt the 2 3/8 OD pipe off the converter to the 3" pipe... I welded a 3"->2 1/2" od header-reducer to the pipe and it slipped right over the original....   I still have to install the proper hangers (wasn't paying attention and ran out of wire for the welder!)  So after i get some new wire, It will be hanging from the factory mounts...   The result was quieter than i had before (muffler cracked from accident) but still much more pronounced than the original...  Has just about that sporty european car tone...  If not a little "raspy" at times...   I bet it flows a little better than my original centre muffler that was full o rust (P.O. had a midas-job)
