A week ago last night, My '88 740 (97,000 miles, very good condition) was prematurely taken from it's earthly home by the front end of a Nissan 4x4. The conservative estimate of repairs was approx $5,000. Given this, I am assuming the girl's insurance company will total the 7. Anybody have any tips on how to get the insurance company to give me what my Volvo is truly worth?
I've gathered values from NADA, Black Book, Kelley Blue Book, and Edmunds. I've also scoured nationwide classifieds for similar '88 740s with less than 100k miles. Oy, is that a hard to find car! All of these sources seem to point to a value somewhere between $4,000 and $5,000. I've printed everything out so that I have proof in case they want to try to give me the $1,800 average trade in value of the car.
I'm sure they'll try to offer me trade-in value or some other such nonsense but that's simply not acceptable.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
