Greetings all!
Well I'm into the clutch replacement on our 83 244Ti! Transmission is out, all needed new parts are on hand. Next step is getting the flywheel resurfaced on Monday.
Never having done a clutch replacement before, is there something special I should request from the machine shop doing the flywheel resurfacing? So far I've heard two methods, using a lathe (like for turning brake rotors?) and using a surface grinder. I'm strongly leaning towards the latter, as I've never had good luck getting rotors turned.
Is there anything else I need to be watching out for? How much of the flywheel surface is lost? I figure .001 to .002 inches--do I have to compensate for the change in surface "height," or does adjustment of clutch freeplay take care of that?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice,
Steve A-
