Hello fellow brick owners:
I just had my seat rebuilt in my '90 245 with 255,xxx plus miles. I was considering buying the foam from IPD and doing it myself but decided against it since the original vinyl seat had lots of rips and was looking pretty bad. I found a local auto upholstery shop that had done lots of Volvo seats before. He quoted my $150 to rebuild my seat. I was a little skeptical at first since I know the seat foam alone almost cost $300 but I figured what the heck. I did purchase the lumbar support kit from IPD for about $28 and took that into the shop when I dropped my Volvo off.
I dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up that afternoon. I walked up to my car and couldn't believe what I was looking at. My drivers seat is brand new with a perfect match to the rest of my interior, very confortable foam and the lumbar support works perfectly. Total cost: $150 for seat rebuild and $28 for lumbar kit - Total: $178.
I am totally happy with the seat and look forward to my next road trip. I told the owner that I will see him again in a years when it is time to rebuild the seat again.
This shop is located in Medford, Oregon so if any brickers need a seat rebuild, email me and I will give you the specifics. Why not come out a visit Crater Lake and have your seat rebuilt at the same time.
Happy bricking!
