Stalling at least once every time i start 200 1987

the car's giving me problems again! this time, i start the car cold. if i just let it idle, the RPM's will eventually drop, and then the car sputters and stalls. this happens within about 30 seconds of starting. i can keep it running if i give it a little gas to keep the rpm's up around 1500 or 2000. it fluctuates again (fixed previously with carb cleaner in the IAC valve a la don foster) but just barely. any ideas as to what might be going on? thanks for the help!
